Former Surgeon General Jocelyn Elders Favors Legalizing Marijuana

Former U.S.  Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders said she supports the legalization of marijuana. Joycelyn Elders served under President Clinton’s administration in 1993 where she earned tremendous respect for her outspoken ways and strong demeanor.

Joycelyn Elders comments came on the eve of California’s push to legalize marijuana for the consumption of people age 21 and over. Doctors that recommend >marijuana in Nevad were firmly behind Joycelyn Elders comments.

The former Surgeon General said that she feels there are too many criminals who are convicted of non-violent crimes. This affects medical marijuana patients as well because many patients have been arrested because they did not get a medical marijuana card in Nevada. Marijuana’s legalization would reduce the number of people in jail due to non-violent crimes such as simple possession.

Medical marijuana doctors in Nevada know they are recommending a medicine that truly helps their patients deal with a variety of illnesses. Medical marijuana clinics in Nevada hold the same beliefs as Joycelyn Elders. She also believes that marijuana would raise revenue while cutting the cost of enforcement by law officials.

People against medical marijuana focus on bogus science that says medical marijuana doctors provide an addictive substance. The former Surgeon General opposes this saying, marijuana is not an addictive substance, and alcohol is far more dangerous and addictive than marijuana.

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder says that if consuming marijuana were legal, it would be a major problem for the partnership between state and local authorities due to their drug enforcement policies. The Former Surgeon, on the other side, says that it would enable better uses of resources in an already strapped economy.

Doctors that recommend marijuana in Nevada are firmly behind other states initiatives to repeal marijuana laws. Las Vegas doctors do everything in their power to improve medical marijuana laws. Nevada medical marijuana clinics are at the forefront of their states fight to promote compassionate care while reducing the amount of crime associated with the illegal drug market.

The need for marijuana is not going anywhere, the former Surgeon General stands by this as well. If more and more credible people come to support medical marijuana clinics in Nevada, then the laws will have to change. People want to see this happen but maybe some are afraid due to the overpowering federal governments’ anti-marijuana standpoint.

If you get a medical marijuana card in Nevada you are making your voice heard and the more people who come to support medical marijuana the better. By working with people in positions of authority, such as the former Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders, we can change how our government sees medical marijuana clinics.

Doctors that recommend medical marijuana in Nevada and medical marijuana clinics in Nevada are hoping people will organize so that medical marijuana is allowed to grow and prosper. This isn’t only good for the state; it’s good for the whole country.
